More Than 200,000 Bank Customers at Risk After The Citibank Attack

Hackers have successfully infiltrated the servers of Citibank and stolen bank card data of more than 200,000.


According to The Financial Times this attack was a month old but it came into the public concern now.


This attack is on the same string of the most popular attack of this year including the attack on Sony’s PlayStation Network, Gmail accounts in China and the most recent Nintendo.


Citibank affirmed that the only types of information that leaked were customer names, account numbers, contact info and email addresses. Citibank added that social security numbers, birth dates, card expiration dates and card security codes were not at risk ( The hackers are preparing for it too ) 


Citibank wants to protect its customers (even though there was obviously a loophole somewhere), but many more questions that should be addressed remain unanswered.


“We are contacting customers whose information was impacted. Citi has implemented enhanced procedures to prevent a recurrence of this type of event,” Sean Kevelighan, a U.S.-based spokesman, told Reuters by email. ”For the security of these customers, we are not disclosing further details.”


Till Now It is Unknown who gave this attack a success.
